Bharti Airtel remained the sole telecom to increase subscribers in February, acquiring 1.59 million users to reach 358.07 million members at the end of the month. Reliance Jio, the market leader, lost 3.66 million members in the month, bringing its total to 402.73 million, while Vodafone Idea lost 1.53 million subscribers, bringing its total to 263.59 million.
As per Telecom Regularity Authority of India (TRAI), the total wireless subscribers in India decreased by 1,145.25 million at the end of January to 1,141.53 million by February. The month on month decrease is 0.32%.
Private access service providers had an 89.74 percent market share of wireless subscribers as of February 28, while telecom PSUs Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) had only a 10.26 percent market share, TRAI. At 35.28% Jio held greatest share in the market. Airtel was at second position with 31.37% followed by Vodafone-idea with 23.09% in the month February, as per TRAI data. 9.98 % and 0.28% share was held by BSNL and MTNL respectively.
