Automation will be a key
What do we mean by automation?
Automation is a term for technology applications where human input is minimized. This includes business process automation, IT automation, personal applications such as home automation, and more. We can say automation is the creation and application of technology to monitor and control the production and delivery of products and services. The aim of automation is to boost efficiency and reliability. In most cases, however, automation replaces labor. In fact, economists today fear that new technology will eventually push up unemployment rates significantly. In many manufacturing plants today, robotic assembly lines are progressively carrying out functions that humans used to do.
Does automation change society?
Robots and other technologies are not only replacing workers in manufacturing, but also in teaching. The number of online courses that run automatically has exploded over the past decade. The way we move around will soon change dramatically. It will not be long before private cars, buses, and trains have no drivers. In fact, even commercial airliners will probably have no pilots by the middle of this century. The report says in 2030, up to 861,000 UK public sector jobs may be automated, says a Deloitte and Reform report. Not only would this cut the wage bill by £17 billion, but it would also reduce the workforce by 16%. Our schools must restructure their curricula so that pupils get better training in math, engineering, technology, and science. There is a growing need for workers with STEM skills as software developers, systems analysts, biomedical engineers, and some other fields. Even professions that are super-secure today will eventually give way to robots. Robot surgeons, doctors, and veterinarians will probably run all aspects of medicine by the end of this century. In other words, by the year 2100, there might not be any human medical professionals. I think not only will smart robots replace humans in the workplace, but they will also probably out-perform us too.
Why automation is so important?
Automation is a technique used to build a system that is able to work independently with little or no human assistance. The main objective of automation is to reduce human efforts. When you enter a dark room, the first thing you do is to turn on the lights. Now imagine, when you enter the same room, the lights get turned on automatically. Most of you will find the second scenario to be more convenient and helpful because it saves both your efforts and time. Minimizing physical work is the ultimate motive behind developing automatic gadgets. We use a lot of automatic appliances in our daily life. But, we often turn a blind eye to them and do not realize the presence of such amazing technology. There is an opportunity to relieve humans from repetitive, hazardous, and unpleasant labor in all forms. And there is an opportunity for future automation technologies to provide a growing social and economic environment in which humans can enjoy a higher standard of living and a better way of life.
