The GoM led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. According to Sangma, the annual turnover of online gaming is Rs 30,000 crore and annual growth is 25-30 %. The next meeting to discuss more technical aspects will hold in May.

West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, a member of the GoM, announced on Tuesday that the group had reached an agreement and that the panel had asked officers to investigate the valuation mechanisms for levying the tax.

However, several organizations, notably the powerful Meghalaya United Christian Forum (MUCF), expressed concern and shock at the state government’s decision.
