Govt puts in place a new approval framework for wheat flour exports

Govt puts in place new approval framework

After closing the wheat exports in May, the government decided to introduce a new framework to authorize the export of wheat flour.

Exporters of wheat flour will now need the approval of a ministerial committee to deliver the atta. The new requirement will be effective from 12 July.

“The wheat flour (atta) export policy remains free but exports will be subject to the recommendation of a ministerial committee on wheat exports,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a statement.

The new authorization framework will apply to wheat flour (atta), maida, samolina (Rava / sirgi), wholemeal atta, and resulting atta.

According to the notice, the necessary procedures regarding the quality of wheat flour will be announced separately.
