Over-the-Top (OTT) is a media service, where viewers can directly enjoy this media service through the Internet. The OTT market in India took a huge leap during the pandemic. Recently a report “Asia Pacific Online Video & Broadband Distribution 2022”, published by MPA (Media Partners Asia), in which it predicts the growth from the OTT platform to be more than double from India’s second quarter growth rate of $3 billion in 2022, making it approximately $7 billion by 2027.
OTT was once a global giant, but now it’s a competition between global giants and newly capitalized local players. The next few years would be a showdown of who takes more part in this over-the-top media service. Viacom18 will be the major player, other than that merger of Sony and Zee will also have an impact.
Importance of Telcos-
For the success of OTT in the Indian market, it is necessary to analyze and confirm the reach of telcos. For the experience of OTT, better connectivity, accessive digital network, and smartphone is the mandatory part.
