David King, Group Managing Director of Manlift Group. David is responsible for the businesses in the UAE, Qatar, and India. I have been working within Manlift since 2009 whereupon I joined to set up the AWP and Power businesses in Qatar. Once completed I moved back to Dubai to take the role of GMD in 2014. I have a strong background in the Automotive Industry.

How did Manlift Group come into existence?

The Manlift story encompassing continual growth and evolution dates back to 2007. Headquartered in Dubai, UAE, Manlift was established with the goal to become the leading supplier of Aerial Work Platforms for both sales and rentals. Today Manlift supplies the MENA and SEA (Southeast Asia) region with top-quality equipment, service, and training solutions.

The company experienced strong growth and brand exposure over the years and whilst adapting to the quick pace in the ever-changing emerging markets, Manlift in the year 2007, established a second business unit next to access platforms to supply power generators. In 2009, another branch was opened in Qatar to supply both power generators and access platforms. However, the power generator business is limited to the Qatar market.

A period of steady expansion ensued with Manlift putting a strong presence across the Middle East and setting up operations in India. Currently, Manlift has a footprint in 3 countries and has 7 depots.

Today, Manlift operates with a huge diverse fleet of machines and services clients from all over the Middle East, Africa, and Asia striving to maintain the Best Customer Experience across a wide range of industries.

The Manlift Way

To realize its’ ambition to deliver the best customer experience in the industry, Manlift has embraced a business approach that incorporates best practices within and outside the organization.  It is delivering a continually improving offer of quality and service for its customers wherever they are operating worldwide. This operation philosophy, aptly named The Manlift Way, has been transforming Manlift’s operations since 2013.

Tell us about your Products & Services

Some companies try to be all things to all people. Not Manlift. We have very consciously chosen to specialize in one very specific area – “powered access equipment”, by which we mean aerial work platforms or mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs). Together with our partners, we have a large diverse fleet including innovative and sustainable solutions. We sincerely believe that with this single-minded focus, we can deliver superior service to our customers and that our superior service offer translates to safety, efficiency, and profitability for our customers.

In a nutshell, we provide solutions for working at height, and we are in the business of making certain that our customers can do that safely and productively. The overwhelming majority of our business is in rentals, supplemented by services, like training, that we provide to rental customers.

In addition, we sell quality equipment for working at height from many of the leading brands including JLG, Genie, and Teupen. We also sell high-quality used equipment straight from our rental fleet.

Safety is our highest priority. Aerial work platforms are a safer way to work at height and to make certain that our equipment is operated in the safest way possible, we offer training on both operations and safety. Manlift is sustaining Member of the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), the only rental organization with this privilege. We provide certified IPAF training in all of our Manlift locations.

We also believe that renting powered access is a sustainable solution – for the environment, but even more, for the long-term business success of our customers. Customers do not need to own, store, and maintain equipment on their sites that they only use occasionally, nor do they need to maintain the in-house expertise and insight that we can provide as specialists. They get state-of-the-art equipment and can focus on their core business rather than expending valuable resources on what is not central to them.

The platform also enables easy organization and management of all of your invoices and quotations. With our search and filter features, you can find and download the document you need with ease.

What kind of additional services does Manlift offer?

Manlift provides solutions for working safely and efficiently at heights. For a wide range of customers with very specific demands and requirements, Manlift implements innovative and groundbreaking solutions, such as fully electric machines, equipment that can be easily tracked, or AWPs that can be used in harsh environments.   

What one thing have you had to overcome to get to where you are today?

I have not experienced any direct challenges, I have found if you can give your point of view in a way that makes sense and lead by example, any challenges can be overcome.

Tell us about your team.

Manlift has operations throughout Europe, the Middle East, and India as well. With a network of partners, we can support activities in just about any country through our International Rentals unit, whether we have our own operations on the ground or not. Few companies can match our international reach.

We are operating globally & acting locally!

We may have a global footprint, but we haven’t lost sight of the importance of working one-to-one with our local customers. For us, every transaction is personal. We work closely with our customers to ascertain exactly what kind of equipment they need, and what else they may require in terms of training and service. We think that’s what allows us to respond quickly and reliably, and we think it’s also reflected in the relationships we’ve established with our customers based on mutual interest, mutual respect, and trust.
