Pipeline Infrastructure Ltd (PIL) connected a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GAIL (India) for cooperation and collaboration of the hydrogen-based ecosystem in India.
According to the company, the MoU aims to collectively explore the feasibility, desirability, and viability of hydrogen as a source of energy and thus build a partnership between the companies. PIL and GAIL will investigate various transportation options using the existing natural gas pipeline and the end-use of hydrogen, according to the company.
India as a nation is at a young stage to use hydrogen as an energy source. The focus of all stakeholders, including the government, industry bodies, industry peers, and consumers, should be on exploring hydrogen production, transmission, and distribution to make it viable to contribute to India’s COP26 commitment, according to the statement.
