Their smart handling of technology
Majority of businesses today experience difficulties with last-mile delivery. Loading time, travel time, unloading time, and the time between two trips, which are the major components of logistics, are not in compliance with the standards in India. All four components are ineffective in India. Loading and unloading are thrown into the hands of the client. Furthermore, the sector is rife with incompetence. Dealing with the drivers has become a major dilemma in the logistics sector. This had led to a mentality wherein the client assumes the driver will be late and generally takes longer himself. For that purpose, the company charges a per-minute fee at loading and unloading terminals to encourage customers. The driver will have to pay extra if he takes a longer time.
Porter has a smartphone app on all of their vehicles. GPS, which is also utilized by Ola and Uber, is used to enable them all. Because of better visibility on each car, they can drive better SLAs. If a vehicle is late or the driver has not yet departed, we transfer the order to another vehicle and punish the driver so that he/she does not repeat the mistake.
The company has arranged for dispatch centers that receive delayed notifications. They contact the driver, inquiring as to why he hasn’t gone or requesting that he do so as quickly as possible. The client receives an automated message apologizing for the delay and notifying them that the order has been allocated to a different driver.
With regards to travel time, currently, every driver in intra-city logistics must return empty. Because Porter can operate on a big scale on their platform, about 88 percent of their voyages have a return load. No intra-city player offers a guarantee on return loads like this.

Pranav Goel, CEO, and Co-Founder
Pranav Goel is the chief of Porter. He lived in Delhi for the first ten years before moving to Gujarat, which widened his cultural horizons significantly. He relocated to Kota and then directly to IIT Kharagpur, following the logical steps to IIT. He was initially hesitant to relocate to a small town, but this experience shifted his viewpoint and influenced who he has become. Kharagpur taught him the value of content over appearance. He worked for 6 months at cognizant after graduation followed by JP Morgan. However, he felt that these positions were a misfit for him as he had spent his childhood in a household of entrepreneurs and had always dreamt of establishing his own business. He met e HeUttam, one of the co-founders in Kharagpur, and Vikas, another co-founder has been a friend of his since the time he was in Kota. Uttam was the one who came up with the concept of Porter. There were a lot of LCVs that weren’t being used to their full capacity, and Porter was born out of the necessity to solve this demand and supply dilemma.
