Below are the highlights of the conversation between Swiftnlift Business Magazine and Stowd. The company was founded by Founding Members: Nakul Jain, Karthikeyan S and Sumit Jain. We are glad to share this exclusive interview with all the readers.

Tell us about your company. Its vision and mission.

Stowd is an on-demand warehousing service provider providing shared warehouses on a pay-as-you-use model. We aim to optimize inefficiencies in the warehouse market by on boarding unutilized warehouse spaces and offer it to our clients for a monthly rental.

We intend to create a network of warehouses across the country and connect it through a technology platform that will enable companies to have an overview of all their warehouses using a single platform. Companies who wish to scale up across India can easily onboard warehouses across the country overnight with Stowd at the click of a button.

Stowd also provides temporary household storage services to help households declutter their homes and save on their rentals.

What were the constraints you faced at the time of inception?

Our biggest challenge was also our biggest opportunity. Stowd started during the nationwide lockdown in 2020. We saw that a lot of urban dwellers left their urban houses and went back to their hometowns. They were unnecessarily paying rents for their urban houses. We saw this as an opportunity to provide storage spaces to these households, helping them save up to 90% on their rentals.

What services do you provide to the customers?

Stowd provides end to end household storage services – including packing, pickup and shifting to our warehouse. Stowd also provided businesses with on-demand warehousing, wherein we help companies find warehousing spaces on a plug and play model.

How do you manage to work in different areas?

Our experience of successfully founding our other ventures has helped us understand business and its challenges much better. It has helped us delegate work and assigns roles and responsibilities in a much more organized manner. This has helped us grow organically across the household and business verticals.

Can you please brief us about your team and its strength?

We have a founding team of 3 members with diverse backgrounds and a combined business experience of more than 15 years. All three founder members have previously founded their successful ventures which have helped us move quickly into the market.

With 4 warehouses currently on our platform in Bangalore, we can offer storage spaces based on their location preferences. This not only helps them to save on their rentals but also minimize their logistics costs.

What are the terms and conditions for your services?

Stowd offer storage spaces for monthly rentals based on the square feet occupied. You just pay for what space you use. All our warehouses are pest-controlled and insured.

To avail of our storage services, you just need to visit our website and request or a quote. Our team shall get in touch with our best quotes. Once confirmed, we shall book a pick-up slot for you, pack all your stuff safely and store your items at our premises!

Stowd offers you the flexibility to store just about everything – Household Items, Business Inventory, Documents, etc. There is, however, a list of prohibited items that we cannot store for safety reasons.

Any particular specialization your company has?

“We specialize in providing shared warehouses and on a flexible model every month. This enables even the smallest business to scale across our locations, paying only for the space they use. This helps companies save on their rental costs by not paying for any unutilized space.”

Do you have liability insurance? Are you insured in case of an accident or mishap?

Yes, we have a Fire and Special Perils Insurance policy along with a Transit policy for all assets stored and/ or moved with us. It is fully handled by our partners – My Anmol Insurance Brokers LLP.

What is your strategy to reach new industries and new customers?

Our model allows us to be unique and more advantageous to startups and MSMEs, especially organizations that have a fluctuating/seasonal space requirement. E-Commerce companies, importers/ exporters, asset rentals companies and furniture manufacturers are the organizations who can see the most benefit through us.

What are your upcoming projects?

Currently operational in Bangalore, Stowd is looking to start operations in Chennai and Hyderabad very soon. We are currently completely focused on Household and Business Storage and aim to onboard around 500 warehouses across the country in the next year. We are also trying to build a warehouse management system that connects all our warehouses across the country and helps our clients have complete control of their inventory.
